Obituary for James Ronald "Ron" Dorton

James “Ron” Dorton, 73 of Princeton, a former resident of Iaeger, WV, died Sunday, November 04, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born in Daisy, KY January 3, 1939 he was the son of the late James D. and Thelma M. Parsons Dorton. He was a retired employee of Island Creek Coal Company and was of the Baptist faith. Following retirement he worked as a driver for Cimmeron Coach for several years. Ron was an avid fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Dorton; two brothers, John B. Dorton and Bernard Rudolph Dorton; three sisters, Helen Ford, Ruby Rasnick and Marie DeFuria and one step-daughter, Kim Myers. Survivors include one brother, Bruce Dorton and his wife Betty of Princeton; several nieces and nephews including special niece and caregiver, Tammy Vest and her husband Shawn and their daughter and a very special great-niece, Jaime Vest. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Pam Collins and Jenny Kennedy of McDowell County and his extended family of caregivers at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley and Hospice Compassus. Graveside rites for Ron will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Rev. Daniel Gunnoe officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 1:00 P.M. to the service hour on Tuesday. Those attending the service are asked to be at Seaver Funeral Home by 1:45 P.M. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions in memory of Ron may be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
