Obituary for Hattie Price Smith Mays

Hattie Price Smith  Mays
Hattie Price Smith Mays, 73, of Princeton passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. Born on April 15, 1938 in Widemouth, WV she was the daughter of the late James R. Forney, Sr. and Thennie Price Forney. She was retired from Rockwell International and GTE. Hattie was a faithful member of the J.H. Easley Tabernacle where she was a member of the J.H. Easley Senior Choir, the Community Prayer Band and a caretaker to senior citizens in the surrounding community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Mays; and one brother, James R. Forney, Jr. Survivors include five daughters, Lydia Heartwell of Clinton, MD, Cynthia Smith of Durham, NC, Cheryl Smith Stewart of Princeton, Thennie Deanna Smith of Franklin, TN, and Letitia Smith of Princeton; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Roland Forney of Columbus, OH; one sister, Mrs. Etta Mae Sims and her husband Henry Sims, Sr. of Princeton; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 12:00 Noon until the service hour at the J.H. Easley Tabernacle, 109 Henderson Street in Princeton followed by the Home Going Celebration Service with Bishop-Elect Dwight M. Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
