Mildred L."Mimmie"  Elgin
Mildred Louise “Mimmie” Elgin, 91, of The Maples in Bluefield, formerly of 105 Lurray Avenue in Princeton, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at her residence. Born September 19, 1920 in McDowell County she was the daughter of the late Albert M. Elgin and Ethel C. Howery Elgin. She was retired from G.C. Murphy Company in Northfork, WV with forty years service. She was a member of the Northfork United Methodist Church. Mimmie never met a stranger and was active in the community as a cook for the Rotary Club and volunteering for community projects such as clothing drives, bake sales, and at the Food Pantry. She had been a resident of the Princeton area since 2006 moving here from Northfork, WV where she had lived most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Sidney Elgin, Edward Elgin, and Barney Elgin; and one nephew, Stevie Elgin. Survivors include a special niece that she raised as a daughter, Vickie Taylor of Princeton and her children Tammy Farmer and husband Shannon who served as Mimmie’s caregiver for the past five years, Eddie Taylor and wife Leeann, Cathy Limon and husband Miguel and Todd Taylor; two nephews, Robert Elgin and wife Barbara of Columbia, SC and Mike Rotenberry and wife Debbie of Mullens, WV; and three additional nieces, Sandra Brown and husband Don and Rose Naimo all of Columbia, SC and Linda Stewart of Winston Salem, NC. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Lois Godfrey as eulogist. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Park Cemetery in Bluewell. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1200 Quarrier St., Suite 4, Charleston, WV 25301.
