Lillian Ball Blevins Farley of Glenwood Park Retirement Village, Princeton, died on Sunday, June 24, 2012. She lived ninety-one years and one day. Born in Bridgeport, WV, on June 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Mary Humphreys Ball of Ballard, WV and John Alfred Ball, Sr. of Hinton, WV. She was preceded in death by her five siblings: William Thomas Ball, John Alfred Ball, Jr., James Elwood Ball, Glen Humphreys Ball and Bernice Ball Woods, as well as husbands O. E. Blevins and Don R. Farley. Surviving her are three daughters: Carol B. Stafford and husband, Jack of Princeton; Linda B. Martens of Princeton; and Deborah (Fran) B. Bellamy of Charleston, WV; sisters-in-law, Jo Anne B. Seaver of Princeton; Faye Ball of Mullens; Pauline Ball Johnston of Decatur, AL; and Marie Ball of Richmond, VA; grandchildren: Staci Thomas and husband Tripper of Bluefield; John P. B. Stafford and wife JoAnne of Flat Top; Susan B. Stafford of Charleston, WV; J. Eric Baker and wife Melissa of Princeton; M. Todd Baker and wife Brittany of Princeton; Beau T. Bellamy of Dunbar, WV; and E. Hunter Bellamy of Point Pleasant, WV; as well as many great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Lillie’s extended “Glenwood family” and Hospice Compassus caregivers. Lillie graduated from Mullens High School in 1938 and attended Roanoke Business College. She retired from the US Forest Service Forestry Sciences Laboratory in 1985, where she enjoyed lunchtime bridge games with co-workers and Dave Martens, her late son-in-law. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Princeton, the Bud and Blossom Garden Club, and was the last surviving member of her original Thursday Night Bridge Club. She was also a volunteer at Princeton Community Hospital for many years. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. Daniel W. Farley, CEO of Glenwood Retirement Village, officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour Wednesday.
