Obituary for Lillian Rockwood Blankenship

Lillian Rockwood  Blankenship
Lillian Rockwood Blankenship, formerly of the Valley of the Seven Houses at Rock died Monday, October 1, 2012 at 3:19 PM at her home on Lilly Street in Beckley. Lillian was the beloved wife of Auldie, loving mother of Michael and Bruce, dedicated teacher at Matoaka High School and most of all a special child of God. “Mrs. B.” was the #1 fan of the Southern West Virginia Road Runners Club. The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton. Rev. Randy Adkins of the United Methodist Temple, Monsignor Samuel Sacus and Rev. Mr. Donald Wise of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and Father Sam Haddad of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church all of Beckley will be officiating. Lillian will be laid to rest in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery at Monte Vista Park in Bluefield (Green Valley). A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Lillian will lie in repose from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday evening where her friends may visit her and her family. Given the honor of carrying Lillian will be Lou Wills, Betty Toney, Donna Akers, Tim Brewer, Norman Fletcher, Roy Ratliffe, James C. Bailey, William Michael Kovach, Tom Stickler, Leon Lane, Ronnie McKinney, Winston Gregory, Tom Davis, John White, Doc Weiss, Pete Torrico, Marco Serge, Jack David Woodrum, Milton Webb, Albert Clark, Larry Foster, Gene Curtis, Paul Pennington, Charles Farmer, Mike Kosco, and Doc Craddock. Serving as honorariums will be Cameron Herron, Charles Carl, Charles Blankenship, Johnny Syres, Ronnie Bailey, A.K. Minter, Henry Melton, Mary Webb, Danny Walker, Guy Bailey, John Ellison, Rev. Paul Zutant, Junior Varney, Danny Jarrell, Jeff Pack, George Taylor, Lewis George, Robert Shirey, Bob Boy Shirey, Jerry Delorenzo, John Delorenzo, William Cooley, Tony Mamone, and Charlie Mann. Lillian’s dear friends at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton are taking care of “Mrs. B.” Imagine…a world without breast cancer….
