Obituary for
Mildred Jean Blankenship
Mildred Jean Blankenship, 87, a former resident of The Havens and Morningside Drive in Princeton, passed away on October 7, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born November 11, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John Andrew Parsons and Lottie Pearl Starr Parsons. She was a member of Senior Friends and attended activities at the Senior Center and Red Hat Society in Princeton. She was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church and attended Fairview Christian Community Church in Princeton. Mildred had been a resident of Princeton since 1977 moving here from Iaeger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hassel Richmond Blankenship; two brothers, John “Snook” Parsons, and Ernest Parsons; three sisters, Thelma Dorton, Mabel Blevins Mitchell, and Helen Crouse; and her son-in-law, Sid Wheeler. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Sue Wheeler of Princeton; granddaughter, Suzanna Wheeler of Ashville, NC; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Becky and Meredith Via of Roanoke, VA, Polly Vance of Iaeger, with whom she traveled extensively; and Francis Smith of Athens, who was a special encourager and friend. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Ten Commandments, in Princeton. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Larry Dyer of Fairview Christian Community Church, whom Mildred loved devotedly. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by the service hour. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to your favorite benevolent center.
