Lawrence Gerald “John” Underwood, 87, of 402 East Drive in Princeton died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born June 20, 1922 in Rocky Gap, VA he was the son of the late Richard Robert and Maude Gibson Underwood. He was a retired businessman and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Gladys Ann Hardin Underwood of Princeton; three sons, Tony Gerald Underwood and Richard Robert Underwood both of Princeton, and David Underwood and wife Donna of Roanoke, VA; one daughter, Rita Underwood of Roanoke, VA and six grandchildren. Cryptside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Roselawn Chapel of the Wildwood with Pastor Doug Williams officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 12:00 Noon to the service hour on Saturday. Those attending the service are asked to be at the funeral home by 12:30 P.M. on Saturday.
