Obituary for Betty Snidow Ogden

Betty Snidow  Ogden
Betty Snidow Ogden, 87, of 602 Old Oakvale Road in Princeton, a former resident of Rt. 2, Box 286, died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Bland County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bastian, VA. Born March 29, 1923 in Princeton she was the daughter of the late B.C. Snidow and Ida Blankenship Snidow. She was a graduate of Princeton High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton where she worked with the Royal Ambassador and the Bible School arts and crafts. Betty was a retired artist specializing in portraits and did all of the beautiful murals at the First Baptist Church She was an active member of the Appalachian Artists Association entering numerous art shows and wining many awards locally and throughout the state. In addition to her parents, her husband, Ralph Richardson Ogden; three sisters, Mary Adams, Mildred Caldwell, and Katherine Sowers; and one brother, Richard Snidow preceded her in death. Survivors include one brother, B.C. Snidow, Jr. of Kansas City, KS; one sister, Patricia “Patty” Knowles of Deland, FL; several nieces and nephews including special nephew, William B. “Sandy” Sowers and his companion, Ramona Shook. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 10, 201 (today). Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1116 Mercer St., Princeton, WV 24740.
