Roland T. "Buddy"  Alger
Roland Taylor “Buddy” Alger, 73, of 128 Cordell Road in Princeton died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at his residence. Born July 4, 1937 in Luray, VA he was the son of the late Henry Alger and Ollie Woodard Alger. He was raised from the age of two by Acey and Flora Alger of Princeton. He was educated in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. Buddy worked as a painter, last working for Concord College. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Harry Alger, Sam Alger, John Alger, David Alger, Willie Alger, Ellis Alger and Acey Alger; and two sisters, Mazie Honaker and Bessie Yowell. Survivors include his son, Robert Leroy Alger of Greencastle, PA; two step children, Steven Alger of Greencastle, PA and Virginia Alger of Chambersburg, PA; one brother, Ted Alger of Hampton, GA; two sisters, Connie Jackson of Longstreet, LA and Janet Alger Malmstrom of Princeton; natural brothers, James Alger of Winchester, VA and Paul Alger of Corpus Christi, TX. The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
