Dorcas Marcella Hale Owens, 81, of the Princeton Health Care Center in Princeton, formerly of the Pisgah Road, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at her residence. Born October 30, 1929 in Boissevain, VA she was the daughter of the late George Hale and Katherine Shanahan Hale. She had been a bookkeeper and homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, her husband, Albert Lee Owens, two brothers, Russell Hale and Pat Hale, and two sisters, Lettie Roberts and Katherine Smith preceded her in death. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include two sons, Scott Owens and his wife Shawna of Princeton, and Billy Owens and wife Deondia of Greensboro, NC; three daughters, Kathy Zuodar and husband Bob of Elmhurst, IL, Bonnie Wiley and husband Larry of Princeton, and Karen Sawyers of Wytheville, VA; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 20, 2011 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Frank Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, June 19, 2011.
