William Edward “Bill” Campbell, Sr., 75, of 177 Offshore Drive in Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Princeton, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born June 5, 1937 in Keystone, WV he was the son of the late Cecil Nathaniel Campbell and Thelma Hazel Fowler Campbell. He was a retired self employed contractor and a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. Since his retirement in 1999, he was employed as a starter at the Willbrook Plantation Golf Course in Litchfield, SC. Bill was an avid golfer and was a member of the Princeton Elks Lodge #1459 and the United States Golf Association. He was a member of the Ceres Baptist Church in Green Valley. Bill loved his family-his wife, two sons, and especially his grandchildren that lovingly referred to him as “Pappy”. In addition to his parents, one brother, Cecil Campbell, Jr. preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of fifty five years, Shirley Anna Puckett Campbell of Murrells Inlet, SC; two sons, William E. “Bill” Campbell, Jr. of Princeton and Robert Cecil Campbell of Florence, SC; five grandchildren, Ryan Cecil Campbell, Amy Marie Campbell, Tyler William Campbell, Andrew Gregory Campbell and wife Sarah, and Lisa Nicole Campbell; and one sister, Carol Sue Browning of Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley with the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
