Condolence: Heaven has recieved a bright star who gave much to the world and her students. I was one such whose memory of her is most fond. As a first year teahcer at Bartley, her wisdom and advice was much appreciated and welcome. That advice helped to guide me in my 40 years in eduction. I have always and shall regard Miss Oxley most as an important mentor and friend in my life. I am most honored for having known her. Bless!!phil darr

Condolence From: Kay Barnette Reaser
Condolence: An important and special part of my life is now blowing her whistle in heaven, and St. Peter better pay attention to her call. Eunice Oxley started her teaching career at Bartley Elementary & Junior High School the same same year I entered first grade there, in September 1944. The last time I got to see her was at a Big Creek High School reunion held at Pipestem Resort and State Park in 2008. And she attended all the Bartley Reunions at Glenwood Park. Why, we couldn't have eaten lunch if Miss Oxley had not blown her whistle to call us together. She was a dedicated teacher and never forgot a one of us over the years. I have no idea how many students Miss Oxley taught, but each of us was priviledged to have been in her classroom. I will never forget those "gym night" programs where all the Junior High students performed for our assembled parents. Miss Oxley had drilled us girls in our routines -- anybody else remember those pyramids? (I got so tired of always being on the botton row!) The boys gym teacher, Mr. Cristo, had the boys performing, too.
I could go on and on about Miss Eunice Oxley, but I'll close by saying I was blessed to know her, to be taught by her, and I will never forget her. And all those are the hallmarks of a dedicated and effective teacher, which she surely was.
Rest well, dear teacher, you've earned it.
With love and respect, Kay Barnette Reaser
